Supplement Spotlight: Collagen Restore + Biotin

Collagen is a protein naturally produced by the body which acts as a building block for hair, skin, bones, muscles, and ligaments. Natural collagen production declines with age, resulting in decreased skin elasticity as well as more brittle hair and nails. WiseMED'S Collagen Restore + Biotin contains not only biotin but also ch-OSA (choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid), a bioavailable form of silicone. Ch-OSA has been shown to improve the health and appearance of both skin and hair (Wickett et al., 2007). In a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study, 48 female participants received oral ch-OSA supplementation over the course of nine months to test the impact on hair tensile properties and breakage (Wickett et al., 2007). The results of the study indicated that the natural decline in hair elasticity was decreased in participants taking ch-OSA compared to the placebo group, and that ch-OSA supplementaiton had a positive effect on the tensile strength of hair, hair elasticity, break load (how likely hair was to break), and resulted in thicker hair (Wickett et al., 2007).

Collagen Restore + Biotin supports and helps to activate enzymes used by collagen-generating cells to make collagen, which is thought to be more effective than consuming collagen in bulk. If you suffer from brittle hair or nails, give Collagen Restore + Biotin a try.
