Treatments I provided for this patient over a four month period involved musculoskeletal manipulation, therapeutic exercises, perineural injections, and prolotherapy. From the manipulation he experienced around 40% pain relief and improved mobility but the numbness and tingling continued along with pain around the sacroiliac joints and the vertebrae of L5/S1. Two months into his treatment I provided him with prolotherapy (for details of this procedure click here) to the ligaments of the L4/L5 and L5/S1 lumbar facets, iliolumbar ligament, and the sacroiliac ligaments. For a description of prolotherapy to this region click here. At this stage of his healing he has no sciatica, numbness, tingling, or pain around the lower back or pelvis; improved flexibility, strength, and endurance.
