In this blog, I would like to remind you of simple choices one can make for a healthier life. These are the actions that can be made daily without much effort but can result in a big positive impact on one’s wellbeing.
Begin your day with breakfast. Make it easy and doable. Keep thing that are easy to grab in the fridge, such as boiled eggs, yogurt, fruits, vegetables, etc.
Park your car away from the building. This will give you an opportunity to get some exercise. Also, consider using stairs rather than the elevator.
Keep your water bottle on your desk or where you can see. Fill it and drink from it throughout the day. The amount of water one needs is half of her/his body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 120 lbs., then you need to drink 60 oz. of water daily.
Take your lunch outdoors. Enjoy your meal and take a walk. It will be very nice and encouraging if you can have a walking buddy. This way you can motivate each other to go for a walk and get some fresh air.
Make sure vegetables cover most of your plate. Make vegetables your main ingredient and add protein to it. When forming a grocery-shopping list make sure to add the salad and vegetables first. It can be pre-cleaned and washed for your convenience.
Focus on healthy fat. Include olives, avocado and fish in your diet. Increase your weekly fish intake. Have at least two servings of fish per week.
Make your plate smaller to decrease the portion size. Also, have your food on the plate before bringing it to the table, rather than bringing the entire serving dish to fill your small plate.
Take walks with family members around the neighborhood. Make it a family regimen.
Keep a snack such as fruit or vegetable in your bag, something that is easy to grab and eat while you are sitting at your desk and working.
Clean your house regularly: Washing dishes, vacuuming, dusting and doing laundry may not be fun to do but, sure enough, they are great ways to shed some calories and pounds.
Take 15 minutes of “Me Time” to relax and regain your energy. You can choose to do any activity that you enjoy. It can include anything from sitting on the porch to getting a massage.
