I know, next year right? It sounds challenging and much harder than it needs to be, especially if you are an over-thinker/over-processor/over-planner. Sound familiar? Here’s the thing, this is one of those wonderful tools with endless benefits and a spectrum of places to start. It really can be easy and will benefit your mental, physical and overall wellbeing and health. Bonus? Balance can help you achieve your goals and maintain them! YES!
WEIGHT LOSS and FITNESS GOALS
I work with clients towards balance in their weight loss and health journey. Weight loss focusing on diet and exercise alone will most likely feel unbalanced, not necessarily enjoyable and has a low probability of maintenance for lifelong health. Your emotional wellness is key to your health and your physical health is often held hostage by your emotional health. Barriers to weight loss are often emotional and more complex than just eating healthy and getting to the gym. They are important to understand, validate and impact to allow changes towards genuinely improving your health. Finding balance in your nutrition intake, exercise and maintainable daily habits is key to making changes for life long success. I am personally not a fan of diets, I help my clients find a nutrition plan to help meet their goals while enjoying food intake and enjoying every day! Life is too short. Every day is an opportunity to improve your health and happiness in a balanced way. Start thinking about what you are doing right in your day, what goals you are meeting and set small attainable goals. Eating the foods that fuel your body also fuel your mental health and energy. And then there is exercise! Some hate it, some people love it and some tolerate it, usually for a short amount of time. Finding an enjoyable exercise along the lines of finding a balanced approach to your exercise plan. Going all out and burning out is not the best choice and is just as challenging is getting stuck in the “I just don’t know how/where to start.” These are all pieces of your balanced life habits that I would love to work with you on!
GRATITUDE, HAPPINESS and coping with DEPRESSION and ANXIETY
It is really a simple thing. It is one of the most powerful tools in decreasing anxiety, improving mood and finding happiness and balance in your everyday life. Focusing your brain on positive things, even the smallest of things, in a day that feels overwhelming and out of control, starts to focus your brain on creating more space for the positive then the negative. You can actually change how your brain is wired with positive thinking, it is a huge and powerful tool! Your brain too is looking for balance. In our crazy daily lives of running around and being late, often sending our minds negative messages about not achieving enough of our daily tasks, being late, forgetting something, all signs of being overwhelmed and not in balance. Stop and think. What am I thankful for today? What went well? What am I looking forward to tomorrow? This will be challenging at first because we are sadly wired for thinking about everything still on our “to do” list and not taking a beautiful breath to say “thank you body for getting me around today, thank you feet for all the steps today, thank you to my partner for helping with dinner…”
Got the idea? Take a little challenge and try stating two things every day that went well or that you are hopeful for. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you!”
Ready for more balance in your mental, physical and overall health and wellness? I look forward to meeting you and taking steps towards your comprehensive wellness.
