Pain Management (Non-narcotic)
Pain, according to the International Association for the Study of Pain, is "an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage". Pain can be acute or chronic, with chronic pain generally lasting greater than 3 to 6 months, beyond the normal time of healing. Chronic pain syndromes are generally broken into malignant (cancer-related) or non-malignant (non-cancer related). Pain management encompasses pharmacological, nonpharmacological, and other approaches to prevent, reduce, or stop pain sensations, often with a focus on restoring function and quality of life.Tools for pain management can range from medication to meditation practices, and here at SageMED we take a holistic approach to pain management, working to ensure that physical, mental, and emotional pain is addressed so you are free to live your best life.
